It seems Newcastle’s railway line could be around for the foreseeable future.

Why cant the rail line stay with the road going either over or under the line? It worked at East Maitland. This way people can still come by train into the city centre while the traffic is not being interupted by the trains coming through.
On a side note if the rail line is cut extra buses will not be effective during rush hour as the buses will still be stuck in the traffic so you wont be getting anywhere fast.
