SLAB HUT ON HUNTER HERITAGE TRAIL

The founding families of the Hunter Valley wine industry gathered today to celebrate a rich heritage.

Nestled beneath the Broken Back Range, this modest slab hut was where Tyrrell’s wines began.

Built in 1858, the ironbark shack was home to Edward Tyrrell and now joins other local significant landmarks on a heritage trail of the Hunter.

Representatives of the Tyrrell, McGuigan, Tulloch and Drayton families attended today’s ceremony.
