There’s been a welcome funding announcement for the Upper Hunter with $2-million earmarked for the upgrade of Scone Airport.
The money will go toward extending the runway, an additional taxiway and improved drainage.
The airport was built in 1958 and now sits alongside the developing Scone Airpark industry precinct.
The Minister for Regional Development Ian MacDonald says
“Having an improved transport facility there provides the basis for regular air services into Scone to service the wine, thoroughbred and mining industries as well as the burgeoning tourism industry”
