HOLEY MAN CALLED HOME

The Newcastle and Hunter Catholic community turned out to farewell one of its longest serving members.
Monsignor Vincent Casey, who was born near Muswellbrook and ordained to the priesthood in 1931, spent much of his life in local parishes.

An old-school style of parish priest, he was well known for his work at Saint Therese’s at New Lambton, where today fellow clergy and mourners attended his funeral.

Monsignor Casey , was an avid sportsman and had been appointed chaplain of the Newcastle Jockey Club where he was known to enjoy a punt.

Monsignor Casey was 102.
