MORE HOUSING COMMISSION RESIDENTS COME FORWARD

After our story earlier this week on the problems experienced by Housing Department residents at Hamilton South, more residents have come forward saying they too are living in fear.

Tenants in Cooks Hill claim they are being threatened by drug dealers and other criminals, and authorities aren’t helping.

  1. What can you expect – I worked for Housing at Charlestown for 3 1/2yrs before I was attacked for the umpteenth time. When I reported it, Doh refused to deal with it appropriately. Instead, I was bullied, abused, humiliated, discrimnated against, isolated and finally retired on medical grounds as they couldnt find any work for me to do. Doh is a mess, they are in crisis and they protect the people doing the wrong thing – employees and tenants. The guy who attacked me? Was housed soon after as a priority – what a joke – you need to tell the real story going on behind the closed doors of the crumbling Dept. If you complain – report any abuse or bullying – they get rid of you…a girl I know was stripped of all her priveliedges last week and sent home – she doesnt even know why yet – they refuse to tell her. They are claiming her absence out of her sick leave against her will but refuse to allow her into the office. She has the union involved, has made many attempts in writing to find out what is going on and they wont even reply???

The people responsible for my abuse? Still work there…the instigator is a Team Leader – after I made a formal complaint in writing, she was investigated, immediately removed from our team but they covered it up by sending her to another office, no reprimand, nothing and she did it again and again and how now been moved again…but she kissed the right bums and paid the right people off….as for me? I may never work again…..

  2. Kylie, if what you say is correct, then I empathise with your situation.
On a positive note, think yourself lucky that you are out and back in the real world.
Gov depts support and nuture this culture of looking after there own and anyone who thinks for themselves is seen as a threat, as they do not have the ability themselves.
Honestly, the caliber of people working in these institutions is of sheltered workshop level with similar behaviour and I appologise for lumping these no hopers in with the mentaly challanged who perform excellent work in our workshops.

I hope you have not wasted too much energy on this unwinable battle, however sue the arse off the dept. You may not win a moral victory, but the money will ease the pain.

    Regards,
    Stephen
