A 38-year-old Central Coast man has died in a collision between a utility and truck, 10 kilometres south of Muswellbrook.
Police say it appears the man’s utility veered to the wrong side of the New England Highway around midday.
A 66-year-old man driving north in an empty coal truck was unable to avoid a collision in the wet conditions.
He was taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital suffering shock.
The highway is expected to be closed in both directions until eight o’clock tonight.
