A four-wheel drive owner’s trip to the beach came to a very wet end at Lake Cathie last night, with his vehicle becoming stuck in the sand and eventually submerged.
The older-model Toyota remained on the beach all day, being battered by waves, while a salvage crew waited for the next low tide to attempt to remove it.
The stricken vehicle created quite a sight for early-morning walkers on the beach just north of the lake entrance.
