TAFE TEACHERS WALK OFF THE JOB

Port Macquarie TAFE teachers have voted unanimously to pursue further industrial action in the new year, as part of an ongoing pay dispute.

They walked off the job this morning, joining colleagues from across the state in a satellite hook up.

The New South Wales Teachers Federation has called on the new premier,Kristina Keneally to immediately take steps to resolve the dispute.

Regional organiser, Wayne Webber, says changes to working conditions would result in the loss of about 3,000 part-time teaching hours in the Port Macquarie-Hastings area alone.
