PARAMEDICS HIKE 9 HOURS FOR REMOTE RESCUE

Two ambulance paramedics endured a gruelling hike in the Barrington Tops to reach a man with a broken leg.

After a nine hour slog, officers Alan Playford and Adam Butt found the patient, and all were airlifted out.

The Ambulance Service’s Special Casualty Access Team officers and their patient were winched out by the Westpac rescue Helicopter with pilot Graeme Anderson at the controls.

Anderson’s rescue crewmen pulled off a 50 metre high winch, to hoist the men out of the rugged bush.
