KURT FEARNLEY’S ANGER AT JETSTAR

History shows that paralympian Kurt Fearnley isn’t afraid of taking on big challenges, after all he’s just crawled the length of the Kokoda track.

This followed his sixth international marathon win in a row but now he’s taking on the might of an airline corporation, after a humiliating incident in Brisbane.

Having just arrived back from Kokoda on Friday, Fearnley was forced to have his custom fitted wheel chair checked in as luggage by carrier Jetstar. Although provided with an alternate ‘hospital’ style chair, Fearnley refused to accept it given he can’t use it and would have to be pushed. In effect, it took away his ability to move independently and meant he crawled around the airport, including a public toilet and tarmac and onto the plane.

He went public in a speech to guests at the Australian Disability Awards in Canberra and this is part of what he said afterwards.
