Port Macquarie has pulled off another major coup, winning the right to host the 2011 Australasian Firefighter Championships.
News South Wales Fire Brigades officials inspected the Westport Park venue back in July and have now given the town the thumbs up to host the event.
The town has plenty of runs on the board when it comes to staging firefighting events, having hosted the state championships several times in the past.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council predicts the championship will inject at least $3 million into the local economy.
