Cricket, and the War Veterans Cup got underway on the weekend with two of the matches doubling as Country Cup games. Gunnedah secured a four-wicket victory over Narrabri with skipper Ben Middlebrook’s half century the standout. Gunnedah will host Armidale this weekend, after their skipper Adam O’ Sullivan smashed 91 runs off just 60 deliveries to defeat Inverell. The visitors put on a valiant comeback but fell 30 runs short. And, as we reported last night the Tamworth Blues defeated the Colts, but the win didn’t come easy.
