FARMERS OPTIMISTIC

Farmer confidence in New South Wales is beginning to recover, following good rainfall over the last three months.

The latest Rabobank Rural Confidence survey has revealed the north west region has shown the greatest improvement, following favourable conditions and a buoyant cotton industry.

Of the 1,200 Australian farmers surveyed, 50 per cent of primary producers were expecting the agricultural economy to improve over the next year.

Confidence isn’t so strong on the north coast with widespread flooding affecting low-lying grazing land and dairy farms.
