SHIPWRECK UNCOVERED IN THE SAND

The resting place of a 116-year old shipwreck has been exposed on Woolgoolga’s main beach, following recent heavy surf.

The wreck of the Canadian-built vessel, “The Buster”, has resurfaced for the first time in more than a decade.

The ill-fated 300-tonne ship had docked at Woolgoolga to cart timber bound for New Zealand.

History tells that the ship ran aground on the beach, after breaking from its mooring during a storm.

Nowadays, the hull of The Buster is only uncovered by similar weather events.
