Gosford City Council angrily denies reports it’s lost millions of dollars in off-shore investments.
A member of the local business community claims the losses are running at $40-million, and is even calling for a ministerial inquiry.

Look i know there were people outside Gosford City council protesting the councils gambeling with our money. I personally know tht council could have prevented the deaths of five ciotizens simply by puting road closed signes across the road Paul ……. inspected the road pavement and culverts.

My concern is that if the Council had spent as little as $500.000 on maintenance work,on the Pacific Hwy. at Somersby, which they had been advised to do in May 2007,the deaths of 5 people would not have occurred in the June floods of 2007.
The family have had the added insult to their grief by the Council taking no responsibility for the deaths,and having shown no signs of heartfelt condolences toward the family. In fact they tried to blame the now dead driver of containing an unacceptable level of illegal substance,which was subsequently found to be untrue.
Rest assurred this issue must be resolved by the real culptits being brought to Justice.
Gosford Council has got to be kidding – this is the ratepayers money, paid to Council to be managed for the betterment & improvement of infrastructure, services & amenities for the area. This money is our money t be invested in ur community, not their money to gamble with & lose. I believe this is fraud, deceptin & theft by Councillors – who gave them permission to gamble with our money? I certainly didn’t. I may now withhold payments in future until I have a written contract from Council that money from ratepayers will not be gambled & spent where it is meant to – maybe others will make a stand by boycott too????
I would like to see Gosford Councillors all arrested & charged with obtaining money by false pretences, fraud & theft & misuse of others money held in their trust which has been betrayed. They gambled ratepayers money in an attempt to increase it to line their own pockets, not benefit the community.
If you or I used money that did not belong to us, was held by us for other stated purposes, & we acted in the same way, I’m sure we would be arrested quick smart – why aren’t these clowns??? Corruption is endemic in all levels of Government, but the ‘Rule of Law’ still applies & no-one is above the Law – so apply it to them now.
What also has to be examined is if any kickbacks were offered to invest in particular schemes.
And further,was there any oversight on the level of investment in particular schemes, or oversight to ensure a wide ranging portfolio to minimise potential risk?
Mayor Chris Holstien has made offencive assertions as the Liberal Mayor and spokes person for his Gosford City Council. He cant be trusted as spoksperson for the council. And as there are other allagations of impropiety in the conduct of family business on public property against him. I Edward James must question why he is still being asked by main stream media to explain which way is up with the corrupt council?
