Hundreds of volunteers who work tirelessly for three Newcastle Council services are still in shock, following budget cuts.
The Community Greening Centre, the Loft Youth Venue and the wildlife exhibits at Blackbutt Reserve are all on the chopping block, as council attempts to reel in a $12.7-million deficit.

How about instead of closing the loft, the top 5 bureaucrats take a $100,000 pay cut each. They would still be earning $150-200k and you could keep the loft going.
