COAL CONFERENCE

A working party has been set up to help north west councils prepare for the impacts of coal development.

The Namoi Regional Organisation of Councils met in Tamworth today to develop a regional strategy, that would allow councils to plan for major infrastructure projects like roads, if mining goes ahead.

Gunnedah, Narrabri, Tamworth, Walcha and the Liverpool Plains councils are planning to lobby the state government to help fund the regional plan.
