Glen Innes has made a strong start to the New South Wales Regional Firefighting Championships.
One of the town’s three teams took out round one of the competition last weekend, finishing more than 400 points ahead of second-placed Dorrigo.
The firefighters were tested on skill, teamwork and speed in 13 events.
The Kootingal RFS was the next best of the New England and northwest teams, finishing sixth.
The next round will be held in Delroy in May.
