A new plan of management for Hearnes Lake near Coffs Harbour will go on display next week.
The lake has been recognised as an important coastal feature and includes a nearby nesting area for the endangered Little Tern.
Under the plan, a buffer zone will be created around the lake, to protect the area from future development.
Tree planting by volunteer community groups and the development of a sewerage system for a nearby caravan park are also part of the management plan.
