ANOTHER WIN FOR CAROONA FARMERS
There has been another breakthrough for Caroona landholders, who want an independent study of the effects of coal mining on the Liverpool Plains.
A working group, headed by the former federal environment minister, Pam Allan, has appointed consultants to draw up terms of reference for the study.
It’s a win for farmers, who fear a proposed coal mine could have a damaging effect on subterrainean aquifers.
Landholders, local MPs and the consultants will meet in Tamworth next week to begin the process.
