A two-game suspension handed to Central Coast Mariners defender Dean Heffernan won’t affect his eligibility to play for the Socceroos.
The A-league’s independent match review panel handed down the penalty last night, hours after Heffernan was selected for the Australian squad to take on Indonesia in the Asian Cup qualifier.
It will rule him out of the rest of the A-league season, unless the Mariners make it through to the grand final.
