TEENAGE CRIME SPREE

Teenagers are believed to be responsible for a spate of crimes in Raymond Terrace.

In just one week the town has been subjected to a gas explosion, several bin fires and break-ins.

The business sector is fed up and is calling on police to take action.

  1. There is nothing wrong with a temperature of 28 degrees celsius as was recorded today in Newcastle, BUT to have the newsreader and the weather presenter continually going on about the scorching temperature was a little over the top.
I suppose there is nothing like sensationalism to sell a story. But bear in mind that the temperature tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday are all expectred to be higher than today’s what words are they going to use to describe it tomorrow considering they have already used the terminology “scorcher” for a quite mild day.
Think about words before using them. A better terminology for today would, I think, have been warm or steamy but definitely not scorcher.

  2. why do you have to specify “teenagers” if a 30 year old man was doing this, you wouldnt say “30 yr olds go on a rampage” you would say “a 30 yr old man”
Generalising like this is wrong and adds to the gap between the 2 age groups.
    its ageist.

  3. I am a teenager myself and i know for a fact these headlines do change how adults look at us. just walking into a shop you can see the staff watching very closely at you and even sometimes have people following you around the shop. I even go to a private catholic school and would NEVER steal anything in my life but they still seem to do it, because of these headlines they think we are all the same. I very much agree with the person that said ” why do you have to specify “teenagers” if a 30 year old man was doing this, you wouldnt say “30 yr olds go on a rampage” you would say “a 30 yr old man”
Generalising like this is wrong and adds to the gap between the 2 age groups.
