ALDI LODGES DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION FOR UMINA SUPERMARKET

The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce says construction of an Aldi supermarket at Umina will generate business throughout the seaside town.

The German firm has lodged a development application for a supermarket in Trafalgar Avenue.

It would provide 1,400 square metres of floor space and a nautical themed facade.

The plans also allows for 73 car parking spaces.

If it gets the go ahead Aldi is likely to be in direct competition with Woolworths, which has also lodged a DA with Gosford Council, for a supermarket in West Street.
