FLOODWATERS LEAVE NORTH WEST

The floodwaters, that split Tamworth in two a week ago, have all but left the north west.

The Namoi River peaked at 5.9m metres at Wee Waa last night, causing only minor flooding to outlying farmland and rural roads.

Water filled creeks, gullies and billabongs, as well as covered the road at Vera’s Leap.

The peak has now headed downstream to Pilliga and Walgett.
