MOSQUITO HEALTH WARNING

An increase in patients succumbing to mosquito born diseases across the New England has prompted a warning from health authorities.

New South Wales Health says there has been a number of cases of Ross River fever and Barmah Forest virus.

The viruses are spread to humans by mosquitoes that have fed on infected animals. Symptoms include painful joints, tiredness, headaches and rash and fever.

Health advisors say we should avoid being outside before dawn and after dusk without protection and use insecticide inside the home before going to bed.
