The state member for Northern Tablelands, Richard Torbay, will step in as temporary Chancellor of the University of New England in Armidale.
The decision was made at a UNE Council meeting behind closed doors today.
It comes following the ongoing leadership dispute between Chancellor John Cassidy and Vice-Chancellor Alan Pettigrew.
Mr Torbay says he’ll work with the council and senior management through the process of electing a new Chancellor of high calibre, as well as reviewing the University’s structure, operations and budgets.
