WOMEN’S CRICKET WORLD CUP LAUNCHED

Our other national cricket team has helped to launch the women’s World Cup in Sydney.

The 25-match tournament will feature the top eight teams in the women’s game, with Australia the number one seed and defending champion.

Captain Karen Rolton got her hands on the new trophy, which she says her team will be expected to retain.

“I think it does probably add a little pressure but hopefully we’ll have the advantage in front of our home crowds.”

The World Cup takes place in March, with games to be played in Newcastle, Sydney, Bowral and Canberra.
