There are calls in Coffs Harbour for Boambee Beach to be declared a nature reserve following the decision by Surf Life Saving Australia to stage its national titles on the Gold Coast.
The Coffs Harbour City Council had planned to spend $15-million on developing the bushland setting to stage the titles in 2010.
