Following the an equine influenza scare early Friday morning in Sydey, representatives from Tamworth Regional Council and the Department of Primary Industries have met with rrganisers of the National Cutting Futurity.
Officials say the event, which begins in Tamworth on Saturday 27 September will go ahead as planned. A spokesperson for the event siad there was no need for panic or added safety measures.
Preparations for the 35th National Cutting Horse Futurity began today. For the first time in the Futurity’s history the nine day event will not be held at the Tamworth Showground.
Tamworth’s new $30 million Equine and Livestock Events Centre will host this years event which will see a record number of participants and a prize purse worth $540,000.
