SURFING IT UP

One of the few sporting events that could go ahead today on the East Coast – and only just – was at Port Stephens with the Pro Junior surf contest.

A strong low off the coast powered huge surf at One Mile Beach near Anna Bay for day three of the contest which saw Bondi surfer Perth Standlick leading the charge.

He tallied the heat score of the day with 17.2 out of a possible 20, including a 9.25 ride to oust the event’s number one seed Stuart Kennedy (Lennox Head).

Heath Joske (Valla Beach/ Nth Coast NSW) was another moving through to the fourth round while Sam Patterson was another standout on a tough day which claimed Coffs Harbour’s Jayke Sharpe.
