CLUNES’ NEW MEMORIAL

A new memorial has been unveiled in Clunes to commemorate those who have served our country through conflict and peace.

Almost 200 people turned out for the dedication ceremony, as decorated veterans watched on proudly.

The Clunes community raised more than $1,000 to build the memorial.

“People kept saying to me that every ANZAC day they had to go to town or some other place and now they’re all saying we’re coming here to Clunes and we might even you know, have our own little march down the main road,” said Vietnam veteran, Gary Lovell.

A tree sapling from the original Lone Pine in Gallipoli will be planted at the site on Amnesty Day.
