GOVERNMENT REFUSES CAROONA COAL STUDY

The stalemate between mining giant BHP Billiton and landholders on the Liverpool Plains continued today.

The landholders are blockading access to a drill site, until the State Government commits to an independent study on the potential impact of coal mining on the catchment’s underground water supply.

Minister, Ian Macdonald, says that won’t happen, but the farmers say they won’t move.
