LOCAL SURFERS BATTLE IT OUT AT BURLEIGH PRO

To the water, and Central Coast surfers faced heavy competition in today’s Burleigh Pro on the Gold Coast. Kira-Belle Olsson put on a strong performance in her quarter-final, cruising through with a score of 15. She brought the same energy to the semis, but lost out to rival Kobie Enright – 16.85 to 16.75. In the men’s event, Ryan Slattery impressed the judges early, scoring a 10.9, but was unable to land a spot in the finals. Meanwhile, Saxon Lumsden made a promising start with his combination, managing a score of 9.4. (no audio)

PICKLUM AND OLSEN MAKE THEIR MARK AT THE CARVE PRO

Central Coast boardriders showed great promise at the Carve Pro over the weekend. Under 16’s champion Molly Picklum had her most impressive day on the waves so far, making it to the final in Maroubra, after a huge effort in the semis. She finished with a score of 11.50, but couldn’t match Kobie Enright’s intensity. Enright also got the best of fellow local Kirrabelle Olsen, who put up quite a fight in her semi-final. (no audio)

NORTH SHELLY BOARDRIDERS STOKED AT WILDCARD ENTRY

North Shelly Boardriders have been offered a wild card entry into the Australian Boardriders Battle Series Five. The club’s among six other wildcards making the cut into the National Final of the Series, which will be held in Newcastle next month. Avoca is already in the hotly contested competition, with WSL icons Matt ‘Wilko’ Wilkinson and Adrian ‘Ace’ Buchan representing the club.
