HOLMES THROUGH TO FINAL DAY OF CENTRAL COAST PRO

North Shelly’s Shane Holmes has continued his impressive run at the Central Coast Pro. He took out his Round 4 heat by half a point. Fellow local Ryan Slattery also did enough to advance to the fifth round at Avoca Beach. But not so lucky today for Kurtis Vaughan and Riley Laing, who were both knocked out of contention. HOLMES NARROWLY MISSES A SPOT IN THE FINALS

Central Coast surfer Shane Holmes has fallen agonisingly short in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Pro. It was neck-and-neck until the final stages, until a priority mistake gave the Shelly Beach surfer a chance to take the lead, with just five seconds remaining. Holmes finished just half a point behind Cronulla’s Jared Hickel. (audio in parts)

LOCAL SURFERS BATTLE IT OUT AT BURLEIGH PRO

To the water, and Central Coast surfers faced heavy competition in today’s Burleigh Pro on the Gold Coast. Kira-Belle Olsson put on a strong performance in her quarter-final, cruising through with a score of 15. She brought the same energy to the semis, but lost out to rival Kobie Enright – 16.85 to 16.75. In the men’s event, Ryan Slattery impressed the judges early, scoring a 10.9, but was unable to land a spot in the finals. Meanwhile, Saxon Lumsden made a promising start with his combination, managing a score of 9.4. (no audio)
