WOMAN IN HER 70’S KILLED IN GRAFTON ROAD FATALITY

A woman has died in a single-vehicle accident in the north of New South Wales. Police say a Toyota Camry was travelling along the Pacific Highway at Clarenza, near Grafton, when it left the road and crashed into a cement drain and embankment shortly before 8am today. The female driver, aged 77, was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a critical condition, but passed away at about 10am.

GRAFTON MOTORCYCLIST KILLED AFTER COLLIDING WITH CAR

A 60-year-old man has died after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in the north of the state. The accident occurred on the Gwydir Highway in Waterview Heights near Grafton, shortly after 9am. Police believe a blue Holden Commodore was attempting to turn right when it collided with a motorcycle. The rider landed almost 40 metres from the collision. He was airlifted to Grafton airport but he died of his injuries. The driver of the Holden provided mandatory blood and urine samples. It is the second death of a motorcycle rider in Northern Region in as many days, after a 17-year-old motorcycle rider was killed after he collided with a Nissan Patrol in Tweed Heads yesterday.

ONE KILLED, TWO IN HOSPITAL, AFTER GRAFTON CRASH

A man has been killed in a head-on collision on the Pacific Highway, north of Grafton. Emergency services were called to the scene at Cowper just before 8am, where two utes had crashed. The driver of a Ford utility died at the scene. The male driver and female passenger of a Holden Colorado – both aged in their 20s – were taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious condition. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

COLLISION WITH TRUCK KILLS GOLD COAST VAN DRIVER

The driver of a van has died when his vehicle collided with a truck on the Gold Coast overnight. Police say the accident occurred on Darlington Drive in Yatala, around 7.10pm. The force of the impact caused the van to leave the road, crashing through a fence and into trees. The driver of the van, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced deceased shortly after.

WOMAN TO FACE COURT OVER SINGLE-VEHICLE ROAD FATALITY

Police say the 39-year-old woman who was behind the wheel on a car that crashed on the state’s mid north coast, resulting in the death of a passenger, was under the influence of drugs at the time. Back in March this year, The Holden Commodore crashed at the intersection of The Lakes Way and Coomba Park Road at Smiths Lake. The 43-year-old male passenger died at the scene, while the female driver was taken to hospital for mandatory blood testing. Following investigations, the woman was yesterday charged with a range of offences, including dangerous driving occasioning death, and driving with illicit drug present in blood. She had her licence suspended and will appear in court in October.

19-YEAR-OLD FEMALE PASSENGER DIES IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH

A young woman has died following a single-vehicle crash in the North-West of New South Wales yesterday. Police say shortly before 11pm, a Holden Commodore ute crashed on Shannon Vale Road in Glen Innes. A 19-year-old female passenger was taken to Glen Innes Hospital, but she later died. The 18-year-old male driver was also taken to the same hospital before being transferred to Tamworth for further treatment.

ELDERLY DRIVER DIES FOLLOWING TAMWORTH VEHICLE COLLISION

A woman has died following a collision between two vehicles in the state’s North West this week. Shortly before 1:30pm on Thursday, a Suzuki sedan and a Mitsubishi Pajero collided at the intersection of Peel and Marius Streets in Tamworth. The 93-year-old driver of the sedan was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital with multiple injuries, but she passed away yesterday afternoon. The driver of the Pajero, a 59-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital with suspected neck injuries.

ONE DEAD AFTER HEAD-ON COLLISION ON PUTTY ROAD

A person has died in a two vehicle collision on Putty Road, west of Newcastle this afternoon. Police say the accident happened just before 2pm at Howes Valley, about 60 kms south west of Singleton. It’s believed the vehicles crashed head on. A man was trapped and died at the scene, while a woman was treated by paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital.

SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH CLAIMS A LIFE AT PORT STEPHENS

Police are investigating a fatal crash in Port Stephens this morning. Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway just after 11am following reports a Toyota Echo left the road and hit a tree. The driver of the vehicle, a man believed to be aged in his 20s, died at the scene. His passenger, a woman also believed to be also aged in her 20s, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
