WESTS AND SOUTHS THE TEAMS TO BEAT

The Newcastle Netball season is back underway, and the dominance of Wests and Souths looks set to continue. Souths Pride also posted a win, while there was an upset, with Maryville flogging Forsythes. Wests are sitting pretty on top of the ladder, and it’s not hard to see why. They were in complete control against BNC, leading at every change. BNC is in the hunt for the finals, but today Wests were a class above.

LIONS SEND A MESSAGE TO THE REST OF THE COMPETITION

Wests will also head into Newcastle netball’s mid-season break on top, posting another big margin today. Maryville Tavern joined the winner’s circle with a narrow result. Nova got up, while the Lions held onto second. Facing the third-placed Forsythes, they needed to be at their best – and certainly were. Leading at every change, the result never appeared in doubt. Forsythes were competitive – and should feature in the finals, but it was the Lions who underlined their title credentials with another strong outing.

MARYVILLE OUT OF TOP 4 AFTER LOSS

Wests’ march in Newcastle Netball continues, 41-point winners today. Forsythes won by a point, while Souths Lions have held onto second. They flew out of the blocks against Maryville Tavern, and from there, never looked back, posting a lead at every quarter change – although Maryville certainly didn’t throw the towel in. The loss means they’ve slipped out of the four.

WESTS RETAIN TOP SPOT WITH WIN OVER BNC

Souths Lions have consolidated their place in Newcastle Netball’s top four with a win today. Souths Pride also got up, Forsythes were too strong, while Wests remain on top of the ladder after edging out BNC. First versus third – it was always going to be close. And although they posted a five-point win, Wests were given a fright – it’s the closest encounter they’ve had this season.
