WENHAM WINS WORLD TITLE

Woy Woy’s Adam Wenham has returned to the Coast after claiming his first World gold medal at the Para-Swimming Championships in Mexico City. The 20 year-old was favourite in the SB14 – 100 metres Breaststroke, for athletes with an intellectual disability, and led by over a body length after the first lap. He stopped the clock in 1:09-point two-nine; just outside his personal best set in Rio last year. Meanwhile, the State 13 to 18 years Titles commenced at Sydney Olympic Park today featuring rising stars Myles Bailey and Shaye Booth. (Audio in parts)

WOODY POWERS TO AUSTRALIAN TITLE

The Central Coast had two swimmers in last night’s 17 to 18 years 200 backstroke final at the Australian Age Championships in Brisbane. Brad Woodward in lane four, and Woy Woy rising star Myles Bailey. At the 100, the Mingara champion led by almost a second, but was seriously challenged at the final turn. Woodward eventually powered home to win gold in two-minutes and one second, with Bailey, the fastest 17 year-old in the field in sixth place.
