SCHOOLS BATTLE FOR REGIONAL ATHLETIC GLORY

Mid North Coast primary schools battled for individual and school glory at the regional athletics carnival in Coffs Harbour. Close to 300 students from Stuart’s Point through to the Clarence Valley filled the International Stadium, for a day of competition in the winter sun. Students competed across arrange of track and field events Todays’ winners will go on to the North Coast athletics carnival in September. (Vision Only)

MID NORTH MAN WANTED ON OUTSTANDING WARRANT

Manning-Great Lakes police are on the lookout for a Mid North Coast man wanted on an outstanding warrant. 76-year-old Iain McQueeney is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 160cm-165cm tall, of medium build, with grey hair. He is known to frequent the North Coast and the Central West, and is wanted by virtue of an outstanding arrest warrant. Anyone with information in relation to McQueeney’s whereabouts should contact police.

POLICE CLOSE IN ON COFFS COAST ROBBERS

Police have arrested two men in connection to a spate of armed robberies between Wauchope and Coffs Harbour over the past 18 months. Following the release of CCTV last week, a 24-year-old man from Toormina was arrested at the Coffs Harbour Police Station on Tuesday. A 28-year-old man from Boambee East was also arrested later that day. They’ve been charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit further crimes. Both were refused bail to reappear in court next month. Further arrests are expected.

LOCALS IMPRESS AT INTERBRANCH CHAMPS

Mid North Coast surf lifesavers performed better than expected at the NSW Interbranch Championships on the Central Coast over the weekend. The region placed ninth out of 11 in the final point score – one better than last year. Tacking Point Surf Club’s Finn Askew brought home silver in the Under 15s male surf race.
