BACK TO BACK PODIUMS FOR MATT HALL IN RED BULL AIR RACE

Australia’s Matt Hall has moved up to fifth in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship following another positive result. The former fighter pilot finished second at the penultimate round in Germany, scoring back to back podiums for the first time this year. “It’s good to be there consistently, two races without a penalty. We’re getting very consistent in the aircraft, fast without risk of penalties.” The final round takes place in the US next month.

TWO PYLON HITS PROVE COSTLY FOR HALL IN RUSSIA

He eliminated series heavyweight Yoshi Muroya – despite hitting a pylon – but a mistake in the Round of 8 cost Merewether’s Matt Hall valuable points, in the first-ever Air Race event in Russia. “I felt I was struggling with the aircraft a little bit. We’ve still got a lot of work to do to get the handling set up. We don’t get enough flying at low levels to know how the plane is performing.” Hall ended up sixth, moving to ninth in the series, ahead of the next round in Portugal.

HALL SEES UPSIDE IN NEW PLANE

Aussie pilot Matt Hall has qualified fifth fastest for round four of the Air Race series in Budapest. The 45-year-old says his confidence continues to grow in a plane he’s only had for a few months – and he believes he can go faster tonight. Hall will face France’s Mikaël Brageot in the Round of 14, in just over an hour.

HOMETOWN HERO ENDS HALL’S HOPES IN JAPAN

Australia’s Matt Hall was knocked out in the Round of Eight at the latest Air Race World Championship event in Japan, beaten by home-town hero and eventual winner, Yoshi Muroya. Earlier in the day, the 45-year-old scored an easy victory in the Round of 14, overcoming France’s Nicolas Ivanoff. The result sees Hall move to 11th in the standings.
