JOHNSON-HOLMES SAYS BEST IS YET TO COME FOR NSW COUNTRY EAGLES

While the Two Blues are preparing for the NHRU grand final against Hamilton, former Wanderer Harry Johnson-Holmes is getting used to life in the national rugby championship. The 20-year-old is in his debut season with New South Wales Country, and while the Eagles have lost their opening two games, Johnson-Holmes remains confident. “I think it’s just cohesion. I think we’ve just come together from all over the state. We’re getting that cohesion and synergy so we can play as a unit.” The Eagles host the Canberra Vikings in Armidale this Saturday.

Disappointment for Wanderers junior Harry Johnson-Holmes at rugby’s under-20 world championships, with Australia beaten by Scotland in the fifth place playoff. The sides were locked at 17-all when Scotland scored a controversial winner. “For me, that’s no try, he can’t hold his opposite number and he shouldn’t even be in contact with him.” But the try was awarded, handing Australia a 24-17 loss.
