MICRO NAMED CHAMPIONS OF SPORT’S COACH OF THE YEAR

Avoca’s Glenn ‘Micro’ Hall has a new accolade to add to the trophy cabinet, named Coach of the Year at the inaugural New South Wales Champions of Sport Awards overnight. The former pro-surfer turned coach is taking the world tour circuit by storm, leading Matt Wilkinson to one of his strongest ever finishes. He’s also guided reigning world champ Tyler Wright towards title contention for a second year running. Hall is currently in Hawaii, waiting for the Vans World Cup and Pipeline Masters to get underway. (VISION ONLY)

NO PIPE DREAM FOR COAST CONTINGENT

The Central Coast contingent were all beaten this morning at the legendary Pipe Masters. Adrian Buchan finished second behind Brazilian Italo Ferreira, with his best wave of six point three. In the same heat, Glenn Hall suffered one of the worst wipe outs of the day. Wade Carmichael and Matt Wilkinson both finished third in their respective heats, and will surf in Round Two tomorrow. ACE CRUISES THROUGH TO THIRD ROUND

Ace Buchan has moved straight through to the third round of the Quicksilver Pro in France overnight. The Avoca local defeated Italo Ferreira and Ricardo Christie, with a 9.5 ride Meanwhile, fellow Central Coast surfers Glenn Hall and Matt Wilkinson have been forced into the second round. ACE INTO ROUND THREE IN RIO

PHOTO: Courtesy World Surf League The Central Coast’s Adrian Buchan has made it through to round three of the Rio Pro. The Avoca surfer edged out America’s Fredrick Patacchia with this gem. “Yeah, look at this. Just grabbed the face of the wave there, stalling nice and clean. This is gonna be a good score.” The next round will see Buchan go head to head with Owen Wright, while Copacabana’s Matt Wilkinson faces Taj Burrow. Wright knocked out Umina’s Glenn Hall to move through.
