MAITLAND AND WESTON TO DO BATTLE IN FFA CUP SOUTHERN CONFERENCE ROUND 5

Northern New South Wales Football has conducted the draw, for the fifth round of the FFA Cup’s southern conference, with some interesting match-ups between clubs in different divisions. Northern League One side New Lambton will host top flight club, Broadmeadow, while the Roosters will face Cardiff City and the Jaffas will play Adamstown in an all-NPL encounter. In other games, Maitland will host Weston in a Valley derby. Powerful NPL sides Hamilton and Edgeworth will do battle, while the Zone Premier League’s Newcastle Suns drew Valentine.

NPL SIDES DOMINATE ROUND FOUR NNSW FFA CUP GAMES

NPL clubs have dominated round four matches in the FFA Cup, with Edgeworth, Broadmeadow and Maitland smashing their lower tier opponents. Hamilton also beat Cessnock City, while New Lambton won the battle of the Northern League One clubs. It may not be in the premier division, but New Lambton still showed class against Kahibah. “Here’s Jovcevski from distance. Luke Jovcevski with a stunner.” The visitors hit back after the break, thanks to Dave Hodgson, but New Lambton sealed its passage to the next round in the 74th minute.

IVAN GETS GIG FOR CUP OPENER

The Mariners have departed for Melbourne ahead of their FFA Cup clash with Green Gully tomorrow night. Coach Tony Walmsley has selected six new players in the squad, and he’s given Ivan Necevski¬†the first opportunity to secure the main gig as goalkeeper.
