WOODWARD OFF TO COMMONWEALTH GAMES

Mingara’s Brad Woodward has sealed the deal for his Commonwealth Games debut. The 19-year-old has been named in Australia’s 49-member swimming squad after his strong performance at the Australian Swimming Trials on the Gold Coast. Woodward finished second in the men’s 200-metre backstroke, behind Olympic silver medallist Mitch Larkin. It follows his runner-up result in the 100-metre backstroke. (VISION ONLY)

CAMERON IVORY OVERLOOKED FOR GOLD COAST COMM GAMES

Hunter cyclist Cameron Ivory has been overlooked for a place on the Australian team, for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The Rankin Park 25-year-old took to social media to say he gave it a red-hot go, but it wasn’t enough. Ivory admits he’s disappointed Cycling Australia is only sending one male and one female mountain biker in a team of 36, to race on home soil.
