MAN CHARGED OVER ARRAWARRA CRASH

A man has been charged after a crash north of Woolgoolga last week. A 32-year-old woman had to be freed from the wreckage of her car, after it was rear ended on Solitary Islands Way. The 24-year-old driver, who took off after the crash, was charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, negligent driving, and failure to stop and assist. The Corindi Beach man was granted conditional bail. He’ll appear before Coffs Harbour Local Court October 9.   (Vision Only)

ALLEGED DRUNK DRIVER CRASHES CAR ON HIGHWAY

Police allege a driver, who crashed his car near Coffs Harbour, had a blood alcohol reading more than five times the legal limit. The 30-year-old man’s car was extensively damaged when he lost control on the Pacific Highway at Sapphire at around 9pm last night, and hit a barrier fence. Police say they’d been alerted to a car being driven erratically and without its headlights on. Officers allege, after failing a roadside breath test, the man returned a reading of .261 at the police station… and was also found to have a cancelled licence.

BRISBANE FATHER CHARGED WITH DAUGHTER’S MURDER

A father, accused of murdering his six-year-old daughter and attempting to kill her sister, has had his case mentioned in a Gold Coast court. The 52-year-old was charged after the young girl’s body was found by her mother in her bedroom at a house in Kendron, in Brisbane’s north yesterday. Police allege he also tried to murder her eight-year-old sister. The man was later arrested on the Gold Coast. Legal Aid lawyer, Jenna Johnsen, said her client wasn’t required to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, and that the matter would have to return to the Brisbane jurisdiction. Magistrate Jacqueline Payne adjourned the matter for committal callover in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 28.

THREE YOUTHS CHARGED OVER CHARLESTOWN BASHING

Three teenagers have been charged following the vicious assault of a father and his daughter at a Lake Macquarie shopping centre last weekend. On Sunday, a 42-year-old man picked up his 13-year-old daughter from Charlestown Square, when they were allegedly set upon by a group outside. He suffered suspected broken ribs, while his daughter received cuts and bruises. Yesterday, two 15-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy were charged with various offences. They’ve been granted conditional bail to appear in children’s court on May 4.

CENTRAL COAST MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER

A 21-year-old Central Coast man has today been charged with murdering a man whose body was found in bushland near Bulahdelah last year. 24-year-old Jacob Munro was reported missing from Schofields in Sydney’s west last July. His body was discovered by police in a bush grave in the Bulahdelah State Forest in December. Just after 7am today, detectives attched to Strike Force Zion arrested the man at his Lake Munmorah home and later charged hime with murder. A 68-year-old man from the New England region has also been charged with being an accessory after the fact. He’ll face Penrith Local Court next week.

FOURTH PERSON CHARGED IN RELATION TO WICKHAM PARK MURDER

A fourth person has been charged in relation to the murder of a man at Newcastle earlier this year. Strike Force Harrogate has been investigating the murder of a 52-year-old man, who’s body was found in Wickham Park in March. On Wednesday, detectives applied for the extradition of a 46-year-old man from Queensland and yesterday charged him with concealing a serious offence. He’s been refused bail and will face Newcastle Local Court today.
