MAN TO FACE COURT OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT OF 77-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

A man has been charged following the assault of an elderly woman on the Mid North Coast last weekend. Police allege the man broke into a home on Panorama Drive in Diamond Beach at around 1.30am on Saturday, before confronting and assaulting a 77-year-old woman on the property. The man then fled the scene. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment. Police investigations led them to stop a 25-year-old man on the Pacific Highway in Nabiac, at around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. He was subsequently charged with a range of offences including aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

77-YEAR-OLD WOMAN CONFRONTED BY HOME INVADER

An elderly woman has been confronted by a home invader during a break and enter on the mid north coast. Police say that a man forced entry into a home on Panorama Drive at Diamond Beach around 1.30am on last Saturday. The intruder confronted a 77-year-old woman before fleeing the scene. It’s unknown if any items were stolen, and the woman was taken to Manning Base hospital to be checked.

INTRUDERS ON THE RUN AFTER VIOLENT TWEED HEADS HOME INVASION

Two men in their 50’s have been violently assaulted during a home invasion on the far north coast. Around 9:30pm yesterday, three men forced entry into a home on Russell Way in Tweed Heads South, armed with bats and cutting implements. Two men, aged 52 and a 51, were at the property at the time – both were beaten with the bats The 51-year-old was stabbed multiple times. The intruders then fled the scene. Both injured men were taken to hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.

POLICE SEIZE ITEMS RELATED TO WARNERS BAY BREAK AND ENTER

A man has appeared in court, accused of breaking into a commercial property at Lake Macquarie over the Easter long weekend. Police say that early on Sunday, the property on The Esplanade at Warners Bay was broken into, with cash and watches stolen. Officers then executed a search warrant at a house on Sixth Street at Boolaroo yesterday morning. A number of items were taken by police, and a 47-year-old man was charged with break, enter and steal, goods in custody and custody of a knife in a public place.

BELMONT RESIDENT CHASES OFF ARMED INTRUDER

Police have apprehended a man after he allegedly broke into a property near Lake Macquarie before being chased off by a resident. Around 11am yesterday, police allege the 29-year-old broke into a home on the Pacific Highway in Belmont, armed with a knife. An 18-year-old male resident confronted the alleged intruder, who fled into a neighbouring high school. He was seen by police travelling on the Pacific Highway, who stopped to intervene. The man was apprehended after a short chase, but not before he allegedly lashed out at the officers. He will appear in court to face charges including aggravated break and enter with intent while armed, assault police and resist arrest.

ASSISTANCE SOUGHT TO FIND ALLEGED CARRINGTON INTRUDER

Police are seeking a man after an attempted break and enter in Newcastle. Shortly before 4.30pm on Saturday the 11th of February, a 45-year-old man heard a noise in his backyard on Denison Street in Carrington. The resident went to investigate, and was confronted by an unknown man who allegedly smashed a rear window of his home. The intruder fled on foot, heading along Marsden Street in Carrington. No one was injured during the incident. Police would like to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 25 to 30 years of age, of average build, with straight light brown/sandy hair. He was last seen wearing a baseball style hat, no shirt, cream coloured shorts and blue and white shoes.

CCTV IMAGES RELEASED OVER GOSFORD BREAK AND ENTER

Police are appealing to the public for information following a break and enter on the Central Coast earlier this month. Around 1am on Monday the 12th of December, police responded to reports of a break and enter at a business on Manns Street, Gosford. Police allege a safe and some property was damaged, although the offenders left empty handed. Police would now like to speak to two men who might be able to assist with their inquiries. The first man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, and of an average to large build. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded jumper with yellow logo on the front, blue tracksuit pants, a white t-shirt, and white joggers with blue markings. TEENS TO FACE COURT OVER MID NORTH BREAK-INS

Six teenagers have been charged following a spate of break ins on the Mid North Coast. Aged 15 and 16, the boys are accused of breaking into a number of caravans at two South West Rocks holiday parks and stealing food and alcohol. Police say residents were inside their caravans at the time of the alleged offences. The teenagers have each been charged with aggravated break and enter offences and are due to face a children’s court next month.

WOMAN CONFRONTED BY INTRUDER ON THE FAR NORTH COAST

A man allegedly broke into a home and attempted to sexually assault a female on the far north coast today. Police allege around 4.30am, the man broke into a home on Blackwood Crescent at Bangalow, west of Byron Bay. Once inside, the man entered the bedroom of a 57-year-old woman. He woke her and demanded property, before allegedly attempting to sexually assault her. The woman was able to escape into another room and lock the door, before calling out for assistance. The man fled before police arrived. During a patrol, officers sighted the man and arrested him in Deacon Street just before 6:30am, following a short pursuit on foot. The 39-year-old man was charged with aggravated break, enter and steal, and attempting sexual intercourse without consent. He will appear in court tomorrow.
