WOODY POWERS TO AUSTRALIAN TITLE

The Central Coast had two swimmers in last night’s 17 to 18 years 200 backstroke final at the Australian Age Championships in Brisbane. Brad Woodward in lane four, and Woy Woy rising star Myles Bailey. At the 100, the Mingara champion led by almost a second, but was seriously challenged at the final turn. Woodward eventually powered home to win gold in two-minutes and one second, with Bailey, the fastest 17 year-old in the field in sixth place.

COAST TO HOST STATE’S BEST LIFESAVERS

The Central Coast team has been hard at work today at Lakes Beach, ahead of the Inter-branch Titles. Australian Captain Tim Schofield will lead the charge, along with national representatives Brad Woodward and Jemma Smith. The under-17 division features rising stars Jazmyn Rodwell and Mimosa Henderson. There’ll be no shortage of motivation, with local legends, Paul Lemmon, Daniel Shade and Amanda White to address the squad prior to competition. The action gets underway tomorrow at nine.

WOODY BAGS BONDI TO BRONTE SWIM

Brad Woodward has claimed another prestigious title over the weekend. After a dominant day at the recent Toowoon Bay Ocean Swim, where he won the 400 metres, as well as the one and two kilometre races….the 18 year old has taken out the Bondi to Bronte event. He defeated Ollie Signorini by a second, with dual Olympian Jarrod Poort fourth. The Shelly Beach lifesaver will now compete in the Inter-Branch titles at Lakes Beach this weekend, followed by the New South Wales swimming championships at Sydney Olympic Park.
