MAN TO FACE COURT OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT OF 77-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

A man has been charged following the assault of an elderly woman on the Mid North Coast last weekend. Police allege the man broke into a home on Panorama Drive in Diamond Beach at around 1.30am on Saturday, before confronting and assaulting a 77-year-old woman on the property. The man then fled the scene. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment. Police investigations led them to stop a 25-year-old man on the Pacific Highway in Nabiac, at around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. He was subsequently charged with a range of offences including aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

POLICE ON THE LOOKOUT AFTER BROADBEACH ASSAULT

A 32-year-old man has been the victim of an assault on the Gold Coast early this morning. The man was sitting in a balcony section of a licensed premises at Broadbeach at around 4am, when he was approached by a man who began punching his head. The victim fell to the ground and was further assaulted before the assailant fled the scene with another man. The victim, from Molendinar, was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The offender is described as mid 20’s, 177cm tall with a tanned complexion, proportionate build, a tattoo on left arm, short black hair and was wearing white to light pink t-shirt and blue jeans.

GOLD COAST TRIO TO FACE COURT AFTER ALLEGED ATTACKS

Three men will face court after allegedly assaulting two men in separate incidents on the Gold Coast. Between 3am and 3.30am yesterday morning, a man was walking along Surfers Paradise Boulevard in Surfers Paradise, when three men approached the man and allegedly struck him multiple times. Police say demands were also made for his wallet, before he was able to run away. A short time later, police allege a second man was also attacked. Investigations led police to charge and 18 and 19-year-old man with attempted robbery and affray, while a 20 year-old man has also been charged with attempted robbery.

18-YEAR-OLD CHARGED OVER WEST TAMWORTH ASSAULT

An 18-year-old man has been charged after a man was struck in the head with a brick and a bottle, in the north west at the weekend. Police say the man, aged 32, suffered serious head and facial injuries after allegedly being struck in the head during a large brawl on Green Street in West Tamworth, on Sunday morning. The victim remains in a Sydney hospital in a stable condition with a fractured skull. Subsequent inquiries led police to a home on Sue Crescent in West Tamworth, where they arrested the teen. MAN AIRLIFTED TO JOHN HUNTER HOSPITAL AFTER WEST TAMWORTH BRAWL

A 32-year-old man has been airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital with serious head injuries following a brawl in West Tamworth overnight. Police were called to a Green Street home just before 2am, following reports a number of people had begun fighting in the front yard. The man was taken by ambulance to Tamworth Hospital, but was flown to Newcastle this afternoon. Investigations are continuing.

MAN KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS ON THE GOLD COAST

Police are seeking any witnesses a serious assault on the Gold Coast overnight. Around 11:30pm, a man was walking along Griffith Street in Coolangatta when he became involved in an altercation with a group including two men and a woman. The man was knocked unconscious, and the group fled the scene on foot. The victim, aged 26, was transported to hospital with head injuries.

INTRUDERS ON THE RUN AFTER VIOLENT TWEED HEADS HOME INVASION

Two men in their 50’s have been violently assaulted during a home invasion on the far north coast. Around 9:30pm yesterday, three men forced entry into a home on Russell Way in Tweed Heads South, armed with bats and cutting implements. Two men, aged 52 and a 51, were at the property at the time – both were beaten with the bats The 51-year-old was stabbed multiple times. The intruders then fled the scene. Both injured men were taken to hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.

FURTHER INFOMRATION SOUGHT INTO SERIOUS ASSAULT

Additional information is sought from the public after a man was seriously assaulted on the Central Coast last week. Police investigations began after a 42-year-old man was addmitted to Gosford Hospital last Thursday morning with serious head injuries. Later that day, a 41-year-old man was arrested at a home in Mangrove Mountain. He was charged with a number of offences including conceal serious offence and firearm offences. Police are now seeking further information on those responsible for the assault. The injured man remains in hospital in a critical condition.

DRIVER FORCES VEHICLES OFF ROAD IN GOLD COAST PURSUIT

A driver has allegedly attempted to force police cars off the road in a high speed incident near the Gold Coast today. Around midday, police say a speeding motorist was forcing other vehicles off the road on the M1 between Ormeau and Gaven. The driver also allegedly attempted to force a number of responding police vehicles off the road. The pursuit ended when vehicle ran out of petrol at Gaven. The driver, believed to be in his 30’s, then allegedly assaulted two police officers and attempted to steal a police vehicle, before being detained. He remains in police custody. Two police officers are receiving treatment for minor injuries.

25-YEAR-OLD CHARGED OVER ALLEGED ATTACK ON HOMELESS MAN

A homeless man has been assaulted during an attack on the Far North Coast. Around 10:30 on Sunday night, a 29-year-old homeless man was sleeping on a bench in Apex Park in Byron Bay, when he was approached by a man demanding money. The man allegedly kicked and stomped the head of the homeless man a number of times. Witnesses called emergency services, and the homeless man was taken to Byron District Hospital where he was treated for a large cut to the back of his head. Police subsequently charged a 25-year-old man with reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and use intimidation/violence to unlawfully influence person.
