Wauchope has continued its winning streak after downing Wingham 48-14.

While in Port Macquarie, the Breakers overcame the Sharks with 38-24 in the first local derby of the season.

Kingscliff’s Justin Holland, has taken out the New South Wales Stand-up Paddleboard Championships at Port Stephens.

He overcame fellow Tweed local Beau Nixon, with a total score of 13.93, something he didn’t take for granted.

“Mate that guy can throw nines and tens whenever he wants so when you’ve got him and the young Toby Cracknell and Stevo, mate just stoked to be with them and the weather’s been great.”

Holland recently placed third at a world tour event in Brazil.

NORTH COAST SURF REPORT 17-05-13

Mere words are not enough to describe how fantastic conditions were on the coffs coast today, but I’ll have a go. Salubrious, superb, spectacular, sensational… Get the idea? Pretty much perfect surf about on most beaches all day with one metre plus of SE swell and light offshore winds early. Even when the wind switched onshore this arvo it was so slight it had little effect on wave quality. Let’s hope these conditions prevail over the weekend as the swell is predicted to rise to two metres. Cheers, noel.

KEMPSEY LOCAL WINS PORT CITY BOWLS TOURNAMENT

Kempsey Heights lawn bowler, Matt Sargeant has taken out the prestigious Port City Open Singles Tournament in Port Macquarie.

In a thrilling final, he took down five-time event winner, Sam Laguzza 21-16.

Earlier in the day, Sargeant smashed Queensland’s Ray Glasser 21-4 in the semi-final, putting him in a strong position leading into the final.

The other semi saw Laguzza from Valentine narrowly beat Warilla’s Geoff McGillvray 21-18.

The four day event attracted 96 bowlers from across the country, all competing for a share in the prize pool worth more than $16,000.
