An elderly couple has escaped with just minor injuries, following a house fire at South Tamworth.
Police believe the pair was trying to start a log fire in their Warren Street home when the blaze started at around 6pm.
Fire crews arrived a short time later to find the house well alight.
They managed to rescue the couple from inside the home, before they were taken to hospital with minor burns.
