MID NORTH COAST LOCAL ALIVE AND WELL AFTER NEPAL EARTHQUAKE

A Mid North Coast couple have had a sleepless night, trying to contact their son who was backpacking in Nepal when the magnitude 7-point-8 earthquake hit on Saturday morning.

21-year-old Sam Bailey from Bob’s Creek had just finished a 45-day trek through Annapurna with three mates when the earthquake struck.

Father, Jon Bailey said he was relieved to hear from his son early Sunday morning.

“The building they were at in Pochara, the accommodation he said it felt like riding a tidal wave so they ran out of the building and yeah they were safe out on the street”

The group will now try to make their way to India.

  1. The images coming out of Nepal are harrowing. Thousands of people are confirmed dead, and many more have been injured. This is a terrible tragedy and our hearts go to the Nepalese people. May God strengthened them and provide their needs during this time.
